What We Have Done So Far

Our vision of working together for a Better Decoplage is underway.  We take pride in our home and Community. We spearheaded a Community Outreach Committee and have proven the effectiveness of a committee working together for a Better Decoplage. The Community Outreach Committee expanded our contacts in the Community and our efforts directly resulted in better connections and visible positive change right here in the 100 block of Lincoln Road. Here is a summary of our involvement to date.

Our latest Community Outreach meeting took place on Thursday, February 15, 2024.  Despite the improper cancellation of our elections; we remain steadfastly committed to our community at large.

We met with leaders from the Art Deco Neighborhood Association (“ADNA”) which is an organization recognized by the Mayor and Commission with a strong voice in Miami Beach. We set up a meeting to discuss our common goals and to discuss the support we can provide to them and they can provide to us. We encourage you to join ADNA, free of charge, if you have not already. https://artdeconeighborhoodassociation.org.

We launched a campaign to clean the 100 Block of Lincoln Road and beach entry, which is no easy task given the homeless and beach traffic! Being present daily walking this block of Lincoln Road, we met members of the Miami Beach Homeless Services Team and learned about the services they provide to the homeless. In turn, they connected us with the Patrol Division of the Miami Beach Police Department.

We wanted to know why this block of Lincoln Road was not being cleaned sufficiently and, after a number of phone calls, we were connected with the Director of the Sanitation Division of the Public Works Department. We held a walk-through with the Director and his team on the 100-300 blocks of Lincoln Road so they could see what we experience on a daily basis. We learned that there are a number of ways to engage with City officials – to help them to help us! You can engage Online or eGov App (Apple Store or Google Play). We encourage you to download those apps and if you see something, say something!

We have attended Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club meetings where we met Former MiamiBeach Mayor Matti Herera Bower, Commissioner Alex Fernandez and Commissioner and Mayoral candidate Steven Meiner.

These meetings are integral to being seen and heard in Miami Beach, getting current information on changes and developments in our neighborhood that impact all of us and being connected for further engagement.

To be sure, after meeting Commissioner Fernandez at one of those meetings, he invited us to meet with him privately in his office to discuss our concerns about the homeless and filth on Lincoln Road. We established a relationship with Commissioner Fernandez and through our continuing discussions we have obtained his support in moving the homeless and cleaning-up Lincoln Road.

We also held our first of many Community Outreach Committee meetings. We engaged with leaders from the City of Miami Beach, the Police Department, the Sanitation Department, the Housing Department, the Neighborhood Affairs Division, and our neighbors on Lincoln Road and at the Ritz Carlton.

Within the first week after that meeting, we see more engagement from these folks and less homeless, our sidewalks are cleaner, new trash barrels are placed in several places on Lincoln Road. The lighting in the median in the 100 block of Lincoln Road has been repaired, the irrigation system resumed, and shrubbery is being planted.

We are just getting started. We take pride in our home and Community. We look forward to working together for a Better Decoplage!
